The app follows you
Read your own book in EnrichReader with a matching Skin. The app sees where you are as you turn pages, so the profiles keep up without you doing anything.
How the app worksHow EnrichReader works
EnrichReader keeps track of where you are in the story. It shows you the characters, places and lore you've already met, and keeps everything after that hidden.
You've read up to chapter 12
01 The one rule
EnrichReader stores what it knows about a story as small facts, and each one is tagged with the chapter that reveals it. Open a profile and you get the facts from chapters you've read. The rest stays hidden.
The app remembers the furthest chapter you've reached, so going back to reread an early scene doesn't hide anything you've already seen. If it can't work out where you are, it shows you nothing at all.
02 Two ways to use it
Both follow the same rule. The difference is where you read and how the companion finds out where you are.
Read your own book in EnrichReader with a matching Skin. The app sees where you are as you turn pages, so the profiles keep up without you doing anything.
How the app worksRead wherever you like and keep a reading guide open in your browser. You tell it which chapter you're on, and it shows only what came before.
How guides work03 In the app
Import a DRM-free book file you own. The app keeps it on your device and opens it there, and you can read without an account. The reader works fine without a Skin, too.
A Skin is the companion for one story: its characters, places, organizations and lore, each fact tagged with a chapter. We prepare Skins ahead of time for partner series. Sign in and search the catalog. If your book isn't there, ask for it, and the app will let you know when it's ready.
The first time you open the book, the app lines the Skin up with your file, chapter by chapter, on your device. That takes a couple of minutes and only happens once. If your edition is too different to line up, the app tells you rather than matching the wrong chapters.
Names the Skin knows glow in the text. Tap one to see who they are as of the chapter you're in. When someone shows up for the first time, the app tells you their details unlock in later chapters.
If you'd rather try it before importing anything, the app comes with a sample book, Initiation Protocol, already matched to its Skin, plus a short tour.
04 While you read
Each profile tells you which chapter it's current as of. When a chapter changes what you know about someone, you can see exactly what that chapter added.
A timeline marks the chapters where a character shows up. The ones you haven't read stay locked. You can tap to peek, but the app checks with you first.
The Codex collects everyone and everything you've met and flags what's new since your last session. Its search only finds people you've already run into.
If you put the book down for a while, a briefing tells you where you are, how long it's been and what was going on, including the current arc and any leads still open. It shows up when the Skin has story data.
Weather and light play behind the text, and artwork shows up at key scenes when you reach them. It depends on the Skin, and you can switch the effects off in settings.
Every profile lets you report a mistake. The report sends us that chapter's text, the titles and your note, and we fix the Skin.
05 How a Skin is made
We make Skins ahead of time for partner series, from the book's text, using EnrichReader's own AI model on our own hardware. Every fact it records gets the chapter that reveals it, which is how the app knows to hold it back until you get there.
We never send your own book to it. A Skin can still get things wrong, and when you report a mistake, we fix it.
06 The spoiler shield
Pick a default for all your books, or change it for one. If you choose something looser than where you are, the app asks before showing you more.
07 In the browser
A reading guide sits next to whatever you're reading, whether that's a paperback, another app or a library copy. Choose the letter or chapter you're on, and the guide shows characters, places and story context from the sections you've finished. You don't need to install anything or sign up.
The link remembers your position, so a bookmarked guide opens where you left off. When you finish a section, move the picker forward. The first guide is Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
